Ice on Whyte

(2014)

My position with the Ice on Whyte Festival was site monitor but I made myself readily available to assist in all areas including special events. I did far more than what was expected of my volunteer position but I made myself readily available for anything that needed to be done to have the experience of a winter festival. I wanted to experience as much of the festival as possible to gain a vast understanding of what it takes to keep a festival running smoothly.

I was a gallery attendant for the Stollery Gallery, where I became accustomed myself with the exhibits and artist biographies. I also  maintained the gallery space by clearing any garbage, adjusting the art if it gets bumped ensuring the art remains properly displayed, as well as, greeting and taking count of all patrons who visited the space. Also, I had the privilege of selling the art work that was in display in the store front area.

The experience of volunteering at the Fringe is always fulfilling and fun. Therefore, I have been a returning volunteer and especially enjoyed my position as information attendant because of the vast amount of information I was required to know or find out. I found it very gratifying to help patrons with show times or in general what was happening with The Fringe.
